Grant Me The Wisdom Foundation writes grants, researches organizations, and supports programs globally which focus on women, girls, education, and healthcare. Locally, we offer free parenting classes in the Sharpstown/Gulfton area through our Wisdom Academy. We also run a College Readiness support program for young women in this community.
Debbie grew up in Maryland and Virginia, moved to Houston as a teenager and has lived there for almost 40 years. She received a BA in French from Baylor University in 1982 and a Master’s of Divinity from Yale Divinity School in 2009. Debbie and Jay have been married 33 years and have two grown children. Debbie has been on a variety of boards over the years focused both nationally and internationally. She is passionate about women and girls’ education and is very committed to supporting the Kibera School for Girls and the Akilah Institute for Women. After receiving her Master’s degree, Debbie and Jay founded their family foundation, Grant Me The Wisdom Foundation. Debbie is currently on the boards of Yale Divinity School and Impact Partners.
Jay grew up in Ft. Lupton, Colorado. He received a BBA in Real Estate from Baylor University in 1982. He founded Sears Realty and then co-founded and is a principal of NewQuest Properties, a Houston-based commercial real estate company. NewQuest manages every aspect of retail center development, from land acquisition, financing, design and development to leasing and property management, in addition to representing many key retailers. Jay and Debbie have been married 33 years and have two grown children.
Ana Lucero grew up in southwest Houston. A graduate of the KIPP Academy Charter Schools, Ana received a BA in Bioinformatics from the University of St. Thomas and is considering to pursue an MBA in the near future. As Director of Operations and Programming, Ana is determined to work with community members and organizations to improve the lives of all residents in the Sharpstown/Gulfton areas through the Wisdom Academy, a free school year-round parenting workshop. Ana runs a mentoring program in this community to guide at-risk youth through the college application process. She is also a member of the NAPW and Rice Center of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership.
